Smart Start Kids' Fest a hit

Erin and Kaitlin Hollingsworth, ages 3 and 5, spend some time with Tanner, a therapy dog and member of the Puppy Tales program at the Waynesville library.

Plenty of parents brought their kids out to this year's Haywood Smart Start Kids' Free Fest at the Haywood County Fairgrounds despite the rainy day.

Babies to children up to 5 years old found plenty of activities, from face painting to corn hole to touring an ambulance. And while kids played, parents loaded up on literature from several different vendors.
