Charlene Nichole Smith and Michael Anthony Quinn, of Waynesville, were married in an afternoon ceremony Friday, Dec. 28, at Long’s Chapel United Methodist Church.  Dr. Charles (Chuck) W. Wilson II officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Smith, of Waynesville.  Grandparents are Jennie Smith, of Maggie Valley, and the late William Smith, of Boynton Beach, Florida, and the late Guy and Annetta Lewis, of West Palm Beach, Florida.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Quinn, of Sylva.  Grandparents are Tilly Quinn and the late Richard Quinn, of Phoenix, Arizona.
The bride’s sister, Lauren Smith, flew in from Denver, Colorado, to stand as maid of honor and the groom’s brother, Matthew Quinn, was best man.
The ceremony was traditional, with the bride in an ivory vintage-laced and beaded gown.  Bridesmaids wore black satin, with deep purple accents, as well as the men in their black tuxes.  Six nieces, all dressed in shades of purple, preceded the bride down the aisle.
The reception was held in the Grand Ballroom of the Gateway Club in downtown Waynesville, where the vintage theme was carried throughout.  DJ Catt Quinn kept everyone on the dance floor with selections of favorites from the guests and Taylor Boyd ( was the professional photographer for all of the bride and groom’s pre-nuptial events and nuptials.
The newlyweds reside in the Muckle Cove area of Waynesville, with hopes of building a new home in the near future.  Charlene has a B.S. degree in nutrition from WCU and continues to add to her post-graduate studies, while Michael works as a wood craftsman at Blue Ridge Post and Beam.
