Smoky Mountain Center to offer dementia training Feb. 25

The Smoky Mountain Center Geriatric & Adult Mental Health Specialty Team is partnering with The Area Agency on Aging, and Haywood County Senior Resource Center to present "Managing Aggressive Behavior in Dementia." This training is being provided by Leslie Lawson, LRT/CTRS, QMHP, with Smoky Mountain Center Geriatric & Adult Mental Health Specialty Team.

This monthly series is being offered to caregivers and others to provide hands-on tips and techniques. A variety of care-giving events and topics will be discussed throughout the series.  This month's session will focus on providing information regarding different types of aggressive behavior, identifying triggers and demonstrating appropriate response to manage or prevent behavior.

This event is free of charge  and worth two CEUs for CNAs, med techs and  personal caregivers.  This training will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 81 Elmwood Way, Waynesville.
