A Songwriter's Showcase to benefit the Haywood County Arts Council will be held Thursday evening October 11, 2012 from 7-9pm at Main Street Perks, 26 N. Main Street in Waynesville. A $5 minimum donation is requested. Coffee, sodas, smoothies, desserts and snacks will be available for purchase from Main Street Perks.

Organized by Chris Minick, the Songwriter's Showcase features three venerable singer-songwriters: "Sugar" Barnes, Lorraine Conard, and Sheila Gordon. The evening will include three sets of original music from blues to jazz to Americana.

Proceeds from the Songwriter's Showcase will benefit the Arts Council's Junior Appalachian Musicians afterschool program where students learn traditional mountain music on guitar, fiddle, and banjo.
