The Lens Luggers of WNC announce a special Photo Clinic featuring Don McGowan on Wide Angle Perspective & Control.

The program is to be held Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Old Armory Rec. Center on 55 Boundary Street, Waynesville, NC from 9AM-12 Noon. Registration is open at 8:30. “We’re pleased to be able to bring this unique program to this area,” said Lens Lugger Bob Grytten. “Don’s work is very impressive and wide ranging.”

Growing up in the rolling Piedmont hills of Georgia, the child of farm children and the grandchild of farmers, his earliest memories of the natural world are informed by this heritage. As a teenager, much of his time was spent exploring the forests, wetlands, and river valleys of the northern and central parts of his native state. Later, during undergraduate and law school, his range expanded to include the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, as well as the swamps of the southeastern coastal plain.

“One of the most creative and least understood lenses in a photographer’s bag is his or her wide-angle, or wide-angle zoom, lens,” says McGowan. “And this is a very unnecessary state of affairs. The wide-angle lens can be readily mastered by the understanding and application of a few basic concepts of how wide-angle lenses “see” the world. The program I will share is an educational and inspirational sketch of what wide-angle lenses do and what they have to offer, entitled “From Here to There and Back Again: A Journey Through the Wide-Angle Lens.”

The program is approximately 1.5-1.75 hours in length and will be followed by hands-on instruction in the field. The cost of the program is $35 for advance registration, $45 at the door.  The price includes refreshments and a drawing for the NEW Change-Up Camera Bag, by Think Tank Photo - a $139.95 value.

This program is open to all skill levels as well as those who may be thinking of upgrading their understanding of photography as a craft. For more information and registration contact Bob Grytten at 828/627-0245 or e-mail bobgry@aol.com. The special early registration fee of $35 may also be sent directly to Bob Grytten & Associates, PO Box 1153, Waynesville, NC 28786. Space is limited and on a first come basis.
