Statewide columnists
The Mountaineer regularly receives columns from individuals who closely follow government and political activities in Raleigh and submit columns to newspapers across the state. Columnists include:
Scott Mooneyham, who works for Capital Press Association
John Hood, the executive director of John Locke Foundation, a conservative think tank in the state
Mike Walden, an economist with the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics of N.C. State University
Damon Circosta, the executive director of the N.C. Center for Voter
Education, a Raleigh-based nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, dedicated
to helping citizens more fully participate in democracy
