Jessi Stone is the new assistant editor of The Mountaineer.

Originally from Cleveland in northeast Georgia, home of the Cabbage Patch Kids, she has spent the last year and a half in the Florida Panhandle serving as editor of a beach community newspaper.

Stone is thrilled to be back in the mountains with fresh air and friendly people. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Georgia State University and completed her master’s degree in new media journalism from Full Sail University in 2012.

Stone has a passion for writing and using her social media experience to inform the locals on what is happening in their community. She is an award-winning features and education reporter, but her guilty pleasure is local government reporting.
