Summer takes flight at the library

By Lisa Hartzell, Youth Services Librarian | Jun 01, 2013

Every summer for the past 8 years or so, Ms Doris Mager has been at the library, presenting an educational program for kids and adults alike. Known around the country as “the Eagle Lady”, she has been involved with rehabilitating birds of prey for the past 50 years. She travels all over the country with her birds teaching and advocating protection for these beautiful raptors.

Join us this summer as Ms. Doris delights audiences once again. There is one change to the line up this year. Ms. Doris’ star attraction, Cara, the Crested Caracara passed away last year at the age of 36. That hasn’t slowed down Ms. Doris, who at 87 can still be found traveling cross country in her van with her beloved birds giving people a chance to see these amazing birds up close.

Ms Doris will be performing on June 4 and August 1 at the Canton Library at 10:30am, June 12 and August 7 at the Waynesville Library at 10:30am. Seating for all shows is limited, so plan to arrive early. For groups of 10 or more, please call ahead to reserve a spot.
