Three Canton men were arrested last week in connection with another case involving telephone wire theft.

Marty Alan Cogburn, 41, Steven Charles Allred, 43, and Brian Charles Garner, 28, have all been charged with injuring utility wires, larceny, possession of stolen goods and conspiring to commit larceny — all felonies.

Det. Tony Cope with the Haywood County Sheriff's Office said AT&T reported a telephone pole was broken in half in a field near Beaverdam Road Friday morning. Several feed of wiring had been stolen as well.

Through investigation, Cope identified the three men as suspects and when he went to find them later that evening, they were together and in possession of the wire.

Cope said he is working with authorities with the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office, where the three men are also suspected of similar crimes.

The sheriff's office made several arrests earlier in January in connection to two other separate copper wire theft.
