Swannanoa Chamber Music Festival

Jul 23, 2014

The Swannanoa Chamber Music Festival, one of the longest running chamber music festivals in the United States, presents its final concerts of the season with concerts in Swannanoa in Kittredge Theater on the Warren Wilson College campus on July 29 and in Waynesville at the Waynesville Performing Arts Center on July 27.

The final program opens with an early Beethoven quartet, the Opus 18 No. 3, performed by the Cleveland Quartet Prize winning Jasper Quartet. This quartet is probably the gentlest, most consistently lyrical work of Beethoven's early quartets.

Next, pianist Paul Nitsch returns to perform on the hauntingly beautiful Twilight Music by John Harbison for violin, horn, and piano with violinist Sae Chonabayashi and hornist Bill Hoyt.

After intermission the Jasper Quartet then ends the season with the lovely, romantic String Quartet in G Major by Dvořák. Full of lovely melodies and Czech dance rhythms, it is a fitting way to end our season.

We would like to thank our audience for another great season so far and hope you can join us at this final performance for what should prove to be a very exciting event. We are already looking forward to next year for another summer of beautiful music and Western North Carolina mountains,

All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $21.40 for individual tickets. For more information about the programs and musicians, visit www.swannanoachambermusic.com.
