Gerald King, MD, Western Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists will be presenting the Talk with a Doc dinner seminar “From Pain to Performance: Hip & Knee Replacement” on Tuesday April 11, 2017 at the Haywood Regional Medical Center Café. Dr. King will speak while patrons enjoy a healthy meal. Afterward, he will circulate to visit with guests and answer questions. Topics to be covered include: basic hip and knee anatomy, arthritis, signs and symptoms of arthritis, conservative treatments for arthritis, and hip & knee replacement.
Gerald W. King came to Haywood in 2007 and joined Western Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists in April, 2010. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. King is a general orthopedic surgeon who applies the most up to date procedures now available to his special interest in trauma, shoulder, hip, and knee reconstruction. This includes the anterior approach to hip replacement along with reverse total shoulder replacement. Dr. King is also the Medical Director of HRMC Center for Joint Replacement.
In 1974 Dr. King received a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Andrews University followed by his medical degree in 1977 from Loma Linda University, School of Medicine. He then completed a 5 year post graduate residency program in orthopedics through Loma Linda University which included a first year of internal medicine.
Over the past 28 years his practice has experienced the innovative evolution of orthopedic surgery, which has enabled him to bring a very beneficial perspective to our community. He has the expertise to know what does and does not work.
Dr. King finds nothing more gratifying than helping a patient return to the activities in which they find joy. He clearly considers his ability to help others a true blessing. He has served on several mission trips with the most recent being to Africa. Dr. King and his wife Edith have three grown children.

Seminars typically occur on the 3rd Tuesday of the month approximately 10 times a year. Dinner begins at 6:00 pm and the seminar starts shortly after.
