Taste of Chocolate winners announced

Despite the pouring rain and chill in the air, the 15th annual Taste of Chocolate was a big hit Saturday, April 19. With over 15 entrants, guests at the Maggie Valley Country Club were delighted with samples of brownies, cookies, cakes, cupcakes and truffles. In addition to the chocolate, there was a wine bar, milk fountain, raffle, silent auction and live music.

The following are this year’s Taste of Chocolate winners:

Professional

First place: Herren House, chocolate orange truffles

Second place: Sweet Onion, Dutch chocolate cake

Bed and Breakfast

First place: The Yellow House, "Finn’s Finest"

Second place: Windover Inn, "Simply Delightful"

Amateur

First place: Rhonda Wilson Kram, chocolate caramel cheesecake bites

Second place: Emesta Stamp, coffee truffle with dark chocolate Kahlua ganache

People's Choice

Bi-Lo's, Death by chocolate cake

Non-Chocolate

First place: Jan Chicoine, dulce de leche cake
