The 50th County Clash is here!
The Tuscola-Pisgah County Clash was voted in 2012 as the state’s best high school football rivalry.
Well, the 50th meeting of the rivalry returns to Waynesville along with the 2013 Great American Rivalry Series, which is presented by the United States Marine Corps.
On Friday, Oct. 18, rivals Pisgah Black Bears (5-2, 2-1 WNCAC) and the Tuscola Mountaineers (6-1, 3-0 WNCAC) will meet on C.E. Weatherby Stadium’s sacred acre with more than 10,000 fans expected to fill the stands by kickoff.
Each year’s game also has a jackpot of $2,000 to more than $5,000 for the half-and-half drawing.
The Pisgah-Tuscola game is one of 72 top match ups selected for the Marine-sponsored 2013 Rivalry Series. This annual meeting, commonly known as the County Clash, dates back to 1966 with Tuscola leading the series, 26-22-1.
Tuscola won last season’s game, 17-14, in one overtime period.
