Attend an informational session and panel discussion on the Affordable Care Act (ACA, i.e. Obamacare) at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 in the community room of the Jackson County Public Library.

In March 2010, President Obama signed comprehensive health reform, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, into law. The law makes health care and especially preventive care — including family planning and related services — more accessible and affordable for many Americans and protects us from being denied health care coverage because of a pre-existing condition. While many provisions of the law have already taken effect, enrollment for health coverage under the ACA begins Tuesday, Oct. 1 for coverage beginning January 1, 2014.

This informational session will provide key information about the law and a panel of speakers will discuss how the president's health reform law affects and benefits individuals and explain how those without insurance can begin the enrollment process through North Carolina's insurance marketplace.
