The countdown begins
50 Days until the wedding
I'm in wedding overload right now. With less than two months until the big day, my thoughts are constantly on wedding, and with good reason — There's still so much to do.
I am DIYing much of our wedding in order to keep costs down. Thanks to Pinterest, I've found tons of great ideas, but actually getting them done has been the challenge. There's just so much to think about it's mind numbing at times. In order to keep my sanity, I've decided to try and get at least one wedding related item crossed off my list every day. Here's what I accomplished this week.
Saturday: I purchased several wood pieces at the Habitat for Humanity Re-store in Waynesville to make some directional signs. They have an entire wall lined with wood pieces of all shapes and sizes and best of all, it's cheap. Enough wood for seven signs cost me only $4.
Sunday: Using stencils previously purchased at Michael's, I made one directional sign for practice. I'm happy with the results (see picture).
Monday: I bought 100 bubbles from the wedding section at Michael's. While watching reruns of one of our favorite shows, HBO's Boardwalk Empire, I tied 100 tiny twine bows around the top of all of the bubbles. (I thought my fingers were going to bleed before I finished).
I also recruited one of my bridesmaids to help me paint a pallet (that I got for free). I am pretty pleased with the outcome! See pictures for end result of both.
Tuesday: Immediately after work I picked up my mom and went to Sam's Club. There we purchased plastic silverware, cups, plates and several disposable chafing dishes with Sterno burners for the food. I also bought a bunch of York Peppermint Patties to put on the guest book table. (picture in gallery).
When I got home, I rolled about 50 sets of silverware in the napkins I had previously purchased from a local restaurant for $15. I tied a little twine knot around each finished set to go with the theme. I've still got a lot of silverware to roll, but luckily I have not lost my skills from my waitressing days.
Wednesday: Since my practice sign was to my liking on Sunday, I decided to get to work on at least five more. I'm going to place these on the side of the road in both directions to help guide my guests to the venue.
More silverware rolling before bed.
Thursday: More sign painting. Finished silverware rolling.
Friday: Payday!!! I shall proceed to pay rent, health insurance, Charter bill and order bridesmaid gifts from Etsy. Now I will be poor for the next two weeks.
