The Newsroom season 2 episode 8 part 1

What happened to this show? Seriously, this used to be a smart, funny, deep and satisfying show. The writing was dramatic and comedic, the political commentary was sharp and eye-opening and the characters were amusing and worth watching. Looks like Genoa destroyed more than ACN's ratings.

This week was just a lot of moping and doping as the top players tried to resign because of the Genoa story and everybody else just on a downslide as ACN crumbles, or at least you'd think ACN would be falling the way everybody was acting. It is campaign night, Will, Sloan and a Mitt Romney representative, the one who hates Jim from the campaign trail (really bad timing there Charlie) are covering the numbers. Mac convinces Will to fire her because she is so distraught and upset, and Will ends Part 1 by asking everyone to diss him and "take him down" so he will be fired too.

My God people, one bad story and you are all willing to commit career suicide?! This is all it takes?! This all seems like SUCH an overreaction, don't you think they should have more professional integrity than this? If anything, they should try to stand strong and try to come back and strengthen their news station. But no, instead we get everybody giving up and being all sad. And honestly, where did this sudden willingness to give up come from? It is so out of nowhere and unwanted, and it seems very out of character for most of the cast. I think it resembles the downfall of this show.

Unfortunately, that's it. Nothing happened this week. I'm not exaggerating, it's just everybody being all moody about everything and giving up too quickly. I wish I was exaggerating. This used to be such a great a show, I'm so disappointed in this season, and I like to picture it as a bad spinoff of season 1, because the seasons are almost entirely different shows.

I give The Newsroom season 2 episode 8 part 1 a 1 out of 5.
