WCU Wesley Foundation 3rd Annual Golf Classic at Lake Junaluska

The Wesley Foundation at Western Carolina University invites you to begin the golf season right by participating in the 3rd Annual Wesley Golf Classic on April 20, 2013 at the Lake Junaluska Golf Course.

The classic will be a shotgun start at 1:00pm, and it will be Captain’s Choice. The entry fee is $50 for an individual who will be put on a team upon arrival or $200 per team of 4. The entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, a gift bag, a post-tournament cookout, and chances for prizes.

“I think that this event is a great way to not only help the Wesley Foundation with their projects, but also a great way to introduce the general public to what the Wesley Foundation is all about,” stated Steve White, member of the Wesley Golf Classic planning committee and Former Western Carolina athletics administrator “Golf tournaments bring in a lot of different people, so this is a good way to raise funds and a good public relations tool.”

Sponsorships for the golf classic are available. Sponsor levels include $1,000 for a Platinum Sponsor, $500 for a Gold Sponsor, $250 for a Silver Sponsor and $100 for a Hole Sponsor. Sponsorship details can be found under the News and Events tab on the Wesley Foundation website,

The funds raised at the Golf Classic will be used to continue a variety of ministry efforts for the Wesley Foundation at WCU, including Wednesday night Bible studies, Thursday night student led worship services, and local service projects such as Meals on Wheels and firewood splitting and deliver to elderly in Jackson County. This year, Wesley members are aiming to raise $10,000.

“The Wesley Golf Classic is a great opportunity for our students to provide an event for the community that people enjoy participating in, and through the tournament we get to financially support our ministry and the activities we feel led to pursue,” said Jay Hinton, Wesley Foundation Campus Minister and Chair of the Planning Committee. “We have received a lot of support from local businesses and individuals through different types of sponsorships from hole sponsors to our Platinum event sponsor, Earwood & Moore, Attorneys at Law.”
