This Weekend LIVE at the Classic Wineseller: Ben Wilson Returns Friday, Saturday Kicks Off Fall for Jazz Series
Waynesville, NC - Performing this weekend LIVE at the Classic Wineseller, 20 Church Street, is Ben Wilson (guitar, vocals) on Friday, October 11 at 7pm. On Friday night there is a $10 per person minimum including food, drink or retail purchases. Reservations are accepted.
Ben Wilson has an extensive repertoire including originals, Americana, and acoustic classics, with emphasis on music from the 60s and 70s. His style has been compared to Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Todd Snider. Ben Wilson records on the Contemporary Buffalo Jumping Spoon Productions label. Voted one of Florida’s Top Five Songwriters, Wilson has toured for the last 15 years singing, and playing guitar and harmonica. Ten albums, two charted songs, and nearly 2000 live shows later, Wilson now makes Asheville his home.
On Saturday, October 12th the Classic Wineseller’s second annual Fall for Jazz series kicks off with singer Eve Haslam and Satin Steel Jazz (Brian Felix, piano; Bryan White, bass; Justin Watt, drums) performingBossa Nova, original compositions, and classic jazz tunes. Tickets are $39.99 per person before tax and gratuity and include a delicious four-course dinner prepared in the Wineseller’s kitchen. The series continues on Saturdays through November 2nd. Saturday, October 19th, think Frank Sinatra, Cole Porter, and jazzed up pop songs like Sting’s “Every Breath You Take” when the James Hammel Trio (featuring Steve Davidowski, piano; James Simmons, bass) performs. On October 26th delight in the energetic and entertaining cool, bop, and post bop standards by the Wendy Jones Quartet (Steve Davidowski, piano; Zack Page, bass; Rick Dilling, drums). Closing the Fall for Jazz series on Saturday, November 2nd is Centerpiece Jazz (Joseph Hasty, guitar; Leo Johnson, lead guitar & vocals; Zack Page, bass) performing classic jazz, swing tunes, and show tunes--everything from Armstrong, Ellington and Ella to Coltrane, Miles and Monk.
The Classic Wineseller, Waynesville’s premiere retail wine and craft beer shop, small plate restaurant, and intimate live music venue, presents local, regional, or national talent each Friday and Saturday night at 7pm.
