Three charged with manufacturing pot
Three Canton residents face felony charges after detectives found them with large amounts of marijuana last week.
Det. Shawn Gaddis said he received prior information of illegal drug activity in the home at 78 Beaverdam Street in Canton. There was also reported to be an abnormal amount of traffic going and coming from the house.
After some investigation, detectives received permission to search the home.
While conducting a search warrant on the home, Gaddis said detectives found a large amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
About eight ounces of marijuana was packaged separately in plastic baggies and was hidden in tin coffee cans.
Allan Richard Blythe, 55, and Daniel Gerald Blythe, 51, were each charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture or deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling place for a controlled substance and manufacturing marijuana.
Additional information led officers to a home at 66 Hillside Street, where they found about eight more ounces of marijuana.
Terry Lee Burgess, 49, was also arrested and charged with manufacuturing marijuana, possession with intent to manufacutre sell or deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling place for a controlled substance — all felonies. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was jailed under $10,000 secured bond and is due in court Jan. 23.
The Clyde Police Department and Haywood County Sheriff's Office assisted in the arrests.
"This case was a great collaborative effort to get a large amount of drugs off the streets," Gaddis said.
