WAYNESVILLE — Thomas Eugene “Tommy” Davis, 72, of Crabtree Road, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital.
A native and life-long resident of Haywood County, he was the son of Vennice Giles Davis and the late Joseph Davis. He was a 32-year employee for Bell South, where he worked as a computer technician. He also owned and operated Davis Trailers, Inc. for the past 14 years. Tommy was a former school board member, former union president for the Communication Workers of America, and a former member of the Tellco Credit Union, where he also served on the board of directors. Tommy enjoyed fishing, hiking, and trading anything. Tommy was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Emily Caldwell Davis; five daughters, April Harvey (Bob), Pam Davis (Kenny Greene), Wendy Patton (Jeff), Rebekah Wilson (Cheyenne), and Harmonie Davis; and two sons, Odin and Zander Davis, all of Waynesville. He is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Hudgins (Bob), of Hickory, and Marie Ferguson (Carlyle), of Waynesville; one brother, Bill Davis (Dianne), of Tryon; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Antioch Baptist Church with the Revs. Steven Taylor, Alan Davis and Heath Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m.Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
