Toney 'Sonny' Cogburn
Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather
CANTON — Toney “Sonny” Lee Cogburn, 66, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at The Homestead.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Luther and Gladys Pressley Cogburn. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Cogburn, Wanda Clontz, and Vera Cogburn; and three brothers, Wade “Bud,” Teddy and Bobby Cogburn.
Sonny will be remembered for being devoted to his family and willing to do anything for anyone in need. He worked well with his hands being a carpenter by trade. Sonny also enjoyed watching westerns.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patsy Cogburn; three daughters, Becky Hall, and her husband, Mike, of Anderson, Alabama, Debbie Ozburn, and her husband, Steve, of Warrensburg, Missouri, and Brenda Cogburn, and her husband, John Nazarian, of Fayetteville, Georgia; a son, Chuck Russell, and his wife, Nancy, of Greer, South Carolina; two sisters, Mickey Rathbone and Katherine Clontz, of Canton; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road with his grandson, Chad Hall officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
