CANTON — The Canton board of Aldermen is expected to announce its decision on who will be hired as the town manager at its next meeting Thursday, March 27.

"We will have our decision on the agenda for Thursday night," said Mayor Mike Ray Friday morning.

The board and mayor gathered in the town board room Thursday evening for another special-called closed session meeting regarding personnel.

It wasn't specified exactly what was being discussed at the meeting. However, Seth Hendler-Voss, one of the three final candidates the public met during a meet-and-greet in February, was seen walking into the town hall at the beginning of the closed session meeting.

Hendler-Voss is currently the park planning and development manager for the city of Asheville Parks and Recreation Department, where he has worked since 2011.

Following the meet and greet March 1, the board has met in several closed session meetings. During the last regularly scheduled board of aldermen meeting March 13, Mayor Mike Ray announced that the process of choosing a manager is still ongoing, but the board has pledged to "be moving as swiftly as possible with the best decision that fits our town."

Ray did not say whether the other two town manager candidates, Interim Town Manager Jason Burrell and Vincent Wong, senior budget and business analyst for the City of Gastonia, were also present at the closed session meeting.
