Tuscola boys edged out by Hendersonville at Snowflake

Emsheimer, Morrow, MacDonald and Calhoun victorious in individual events

SKYLAND — The Tuscola girls swimming team was dominate in the pool again at West Henderson’s Snowflake Invitational, beating second place Smoky Mountain by 143.5 points, 253-109.5, Saturday morning. The host Falcons (107) were third and Hendersonville (60.5) finished fourth.
However, the Tuscola boys went down to the final race before being edged for first by Hendersonville, 157-154.5, while West Henderson (145.5) finished a close third and Smoky Mountain (55) was fourth.
In the Snowflake Girls Invitational, Tuscola’s London Schumacher won the 200 free (Erin Peterson, 2nd; Tess Steele, 4th), and the 100 breast (Peterson, 3rd; Sarahgrace Patten, 9th), Annie Ly finished first in the 200 IM (Megan Jameson, 3rd; Karalee Corbeil, 4th) and the 100 fly (Jameson, 2nd; Alex Zacher, 5th), Chloe Zacher won the 50 free (Vanessa Ly, 4th; Annelise Steele, 8th). Kiana Schumacher finished first in the 100 free (Chloe Zacher, 3rd; Tess Steele, 6th) and the 100 back (Dodson, 2nd) and Vanessa Ly won the 500 free (Cora Dodson, 2nd).
The Tuscola girls also won the 200 medley relay (Dodson, V. Ly, A. Ly, K. Schumacher), the 200 free relay (C. Zacher, Peterson, K. Schumacher, L. Schumacher) and the 400 free relay (A. Ly, V. Ly, C. Zacher, L. Schumacher).
In the Snowflake Boys Invitational, Tuscola’s Stefan Emsheimer won the 200 free (Connor LoBianco, 5th; Logan King, 8th), Jack MacDonald finished first in the 50 free (Brady Myers, 6th; Kevin Williams, 8th) and the 100 free (Emsheimer, 4th; LoBianco, 6th), Crayton Morrow won the 500 free (Myers, 3rd) and Mason Calhoun was first in the 100 back (King, 9th; Jesse Ross, 11th).
Other notable finishes for the Mountaineers were Calhoun (2nd, 200 IM), McLeod (6th, 200 IM; 5th, 100 breast), Morrow (3rd, 100 fly), Williams (6th, 100 breast) and Mason McConnell (7th, 100 breast),
The Tuscola boys won the 200 free relay (Morrow, Myers, Liam McLeod, Emsheimer).
Tuscola Head Coach Robin Batchelor’s Mountaineers will wrap up the regular season with a home  dual meet against West Henderson at the MedWest Fitness Center, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
