Tuscola girls impressive in pool; boys lose
The Tuscola High girls swim team had an impressive showing in Monday’s season opening dual meet against Franklin at the Haywood Regional Fitness Center pool.
The Mountaineer girls (1-0) cruised to a 122-48 victory over the Panthers, while the Tuscola boys (0-1) were edged by Franklin, 90-73.
Picking up wins in the individual events for the Tuscola girls were senior Hannah McLeod (200 free, 100 breast), junior London Schumacher (200 IM, 500 free), senior Katy Stringfield (50 free, 100 free), freshman Annie Ly (100 fly) and freshman Cora Dobson (100 back).
The Tuscola girls also picked up wins in the 200 medley relay (Dobson, sophomore Erin Peterson, Annie Ly and junior Chloe Zacher), 200 free relay (McLeod, junior Vanessa Ly, Schumacher and Stringfield) and the 400 free relay (Schumacher, ...
