Tuscola girls win Murphy Invitational, improves to 21-0

MURPHY — At last week’s eight-team Murphy Invitational, the Tuscola varsity girls swim team was missing junior and Ironman champion London Schumacher, who was out with the flu.
But no problem for the powerful Tuscola girls, considering the Mountaineers still have senior and Florida State-bound Katy Stringfield.
Once again, Stringfield picked up two wins in the 200 free and the 100 fly to lead the Tuscola girls to an easy victory at the Murphy Invitational.
Tuscola Head Coach Robin Batchelor’s girls, which improved to 21-0 overall, beat second place Smoky Mountain by 108.5 points, 307-198.5.
Rounding out the rest of the girls meet, Franklin (185) was third, Hayesville (179.5) fourth, followed by Hendersonville (104.5), which finished fifth, Union (Ga.) County (97) was sixth, host Murphy ...
