In the last game of the 2008 regular season, the Tuscola varsity football team sat atop their conference after claiming at least a share of the title with a 10-0 record.  “Undefeated 11-0 Conference Champion” banners had already been made up for the postgame celebration and everything was supposed to go the Mountaineers’ way.  
That was until the T.C. Roberson Rams, who were struggling that year, marched into C.E. Weatherby Stadium with nothing to lose, broke from conventional offense and burned the Tuscola secondary to shock the previously undefeated Mountaineers 49-20.
Four years later, the Mountaineers are struggling themselves (3-6, 3-2 WNCAC) and are major underdogs in their final two games against the WNC Athletic Conference’s top two teams.
