Tuscola senior Caleb Ferguson broke numerous records and was one of the top rushers in the country. He will have to make room for one more honor on his shelf at home as the B-back was named last week to the American Family Insurance All-USA North Carolina second team, published by USA TODAY High School Sports.
Ferguson, who helped lead the Mountaineers to an impressive 11-2 overall record and a share of the WNC Athletic Conference championship, wrapped up his brilliant prep career on the girdiron as the school’s all-time leading rusher with 3,999 yards. The 68 touchdowns in his career was also a new school record.
This season, he also set single-season school records in rushing yards (1,944), touchdowns (35) and yards per carry (8.8 ypg).
Ferguson was named to the WNCAC’s Co-Offensive Player of the Year.
