Tuscola’s Summit is celebrating 35 years of Country Western with this year’s show, “Country Roads.”

The performance will feature a variety of country music. Audience members will enjoy songs by Martina McBride, Zach Brown Band, Shania Twain, Travis Tritt, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Patti Loveless, a group performance of “Forever Country,” and much more.

Maggie Jennings, the choral director at THS, said, “We’re very excited about this year’s program. It’s a perfect picture of who we are and where we come from. We hope everyone in the community will come join us in celebrating our heritage because we’re extremely proud of it.”

Country Western is a long-standing tradition for not only the Tuscola High School Choral Department but for the local community as well. Many people come to see these performances year after year because of country music’s ability to speak to people, no matter what they’re going through.

Hayden Swanger, a senior and a three-year member of Summit, said, “Summit has been a tradition for the Swanger family ever since my dad, John, joined it with his cousins in the early nineties, and my sister, Alex, was in Summit for two years as well. I’m glad I’ve been able to carry on the family tradition with my cousins Selah and Elisabeth (also in Summit this year). The last three years of Country Western have been great.”

The Tuscola Choral Department would like to thank the local community for supporting our program.

We’re again partnering with local businesses to produce this community event.  Attendees will have a chance to win raffles and door prizes raising funds for the Tuscola High School Choral Department.

Tickets are available through Summit and Chamber Choir Members, at the door, or by calling THS at 456-2408.
