Tuscola takes two from Erwin
The Tuscola varsity girls basketball team dominated the boards (44-31) and never trailed after the opening tip en route to its 61-52 non-conference victory over visiting Erwin Tuesday night.
“I am proud of our rebounding and overall improvement,” said Tuscola Head Coach Ann Gardner.
Tuscola, which improved to 4-1 overall, was led by senior Taylor Gibson’s first double-double of the season. She scored a team-high 16 points and pulled down 15 rebounds.
The Mountaineers also got a career-high 13 points from junior Peyton Fisher, while senior Shelby Tricoli finished with 14 and Alex Swanger chipped in a dozen points to go with eight rebounds. Mariah Reid scored a game-high 18 points for Erwin (3-2).
