Tuscola Varsity Girls' Basketball Team Honored with Scholar-Athlete Team Award
Congratulations to Tuscola’s girls’ varsity basketball team! This group of girls earned a Scholar-Athlete state team award because they finished the season with the highest average GPA of all teams applying for the AAA Scholar-Athlete program. The NC High School Athletic Association is proud to offer this program and recognize schools that have excelled in combining excellence in athletics with excellence in the classroom.
Tuscola’s girls had an average GPA of 3.83. Players include: Shelby Tricoli, Alex Swanger, Taylor Gibson, Peyton Fisher, Jasmine Duncan, Maloree Burgin, Samantha Beasley, Samantha Young, Klarissa Bryson, and Tristan Woodall. Coaches include: Head Coach, Anne Gardner and Assistants, Jerry Cornwell and Missy Gentry. The team manager was Georgia Simson. On May 2, the team will be awarded a plaque at the annual meeting in Chapel Hill at the Dean E. Smith Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina.
