Two charged in accident on Pigeon Street
An accident Wednesday backed up traffic on Pigeon Street in Waynesville after an 18-year-old rear-ended a man who had purchased a Jaguar that same day.
Malachi Riddle told police that he briefly looked away from the road while he was driving when he ran into the back of 44-year-old Anthony Arnett's car, said Waynesville Police Officer Tyler Howell. Arnett had slowed in front of Riddle in order to turn left onto Hillside Drive.
The passenger in the Jaguar, Karen Warren, was taken to the hospital for injuries, but has since been released, according to reports.
Riddle was charged with failing to decrease speed, but Arnett faces charges of his own.
Howell said after arriving on the scene, it was determined that Arnett had been driving drunk.
