Two local youth football teams to play for Western Division title
ASHEVILLE — Two Haywood County WNC Youth Football League teams won Saturday and advanced into the Western Division championships, while four local squads had their season ended with a playoff loss.
Teams who win the “West” will advance to play the “East” champion in the WNC Youth Football League Super Bowl on Saturday, Nov. 10.
At Asheville Memorial Stadium, the Bethel termites (9-1) defeated the Lake Junaluska, 28-14, to earn a berth into the Western Division title game next Saturday, Nov. 3.
In the pup semifinal playoff game, Lake Junaluska finished its season without a loss when the Warriors tied Bethel, 6-6.
Being part of the termites team, the Blue Demon will also advance and play a scrimmage game before the West Division championship on Saturday.
