Two teens arrested for breaking into cars
Two more teens face felony charges for breaking into several cars across the county were arrested this week.
Quinton Barker Jr., 19, was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 16 in Jackson County and was transported to Haywood County Jail and held in lieu of $40,000 secured bond. He had a court appearance on Sept. 17, during which time his bond was reduced to $7,500. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 2.
Cody Green, 18, turned himself in to the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday, Sept. 18. He was jailed in lieu of $30,000 secured bond. His court date is also slated for Oct. 2.
Both subjects, as well as two others arrested previously, Jessica McCoy, 19, and Brady Fortner, 19, are facing several counts of felony counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, as well as numerous misdemeanor larceny and possession of stolen goods charges.
There were approximately two dozen vehicles broken into beginning in Maggie Valley motel parking lots, continuing through Lake Junaluska into MedWest Haywood parking lots, and culminating in the parking lot at Smoky Meadows apartments in Canton. The vehicles that were broken into had all been left unlocked. Among the items stolen were small electronics, tools, and wallets and purses.
