UNCA to hold job, internship, career roundtable
With two events focused on career development, job paths will be the focus at UNC Asheville on March 25. The Sherrill Center will host area businesses ready to hire during the day and the evening will feature a roundtable on careers for students in the humanities disciplines.
More than 45 businesses are scheduled to participate in UNC Asheville’s Job and Internship Fair from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, in Kimmel Arena in the Sherrill Center on the UNC Asheville campus. Area degree-seeking students and alumni are invited to join UNC Asheville students to learn more about full-time, part-time and seasonal jobs and internship opportunities.
Participants include the State Employees Credit Union, Asheville Radio Group, Mission Health, the City of Asheville and many more local businesses. The Job and Internship Fair provides an opportunity for participants to network and exchange information with various industry and non-profit representatives.
Admission to the Job and Internship Fair is free. The fair is co-sponsored by the university’s Career Center, Student Government Association and Student Management Association, with more information available at career.unca.eduor by calling 828.251.6515.
As part of the day’s activities, a drawing for a free suit will be held, sponsored by Jos. A. Bank and Dillard’s. This contest is open to UNC Asheville students and alumni only.
There will also a roundtable discussion, “What To Do with a Humanities Degree,” at 6:30 p.m. in the Sherrill Center, Mission Health System Mountain View Conference Room. Faculty and alumni who have used humanities degrees to launch successful careers will address graduate school and job path options for students majoring in traditional humanities disciplines. This free, public event is sponsored by UNC Asheville’s Humanities Program the NEH Distinguished Professor in the Humanities.
