Unique art classes available for adults

The Inspired Art Ministry, Inc. (IAM) offers unique, ongoing art classes for adults and children.  By using the Protique method, students explore and release talents and gifts they didn't know they had. This method brings a positive and encouraging atmosphere to the world of creating. Artists and artists-in-training (beginner through advanced) learn traditional techniques as well as tips that are not in the textbooks. They are also exposed to many types of media and images made by professional master artists, both past and present. A plethora of handouts aid in the understanding of what's being taught. These classes are for artists that lean toward photorealism, impressionism, pointillism, abstraction or don't know yet.

IAM also offers an annual art show/fundraiser; an art library for students to checkout books and materials; field trips to museums, galleries and working artist studios; a Christmas party; and discounts at the Mountain Home Collection and Village Framer.  Donations are tax-deductible and used for student scholarships and activities.

Classes are held from 1 to 4 p.m. every Tuesday on the second floor of the Ministry Activity Center building, First Baptist Church in Waynesville. Each 6-week term is $55 or $10 per class.

Drawing classes are not being offered this term, but will resume with the term that begins Monday, April 14.
