The United Way of Haywood County has named Dianne Nichols, of Mountain Credit Union, chair of its 2014 United Way fundraising campaign.

Nichols has served the United Way for several years as a board member, donor and volunteer.  She has also served on the Haywood County Schools Foundation and Western North Carolina Chapter of Credit Unions Boards.

“It is an honor to lead this year’s campaign, and to work with so many inspirational leaders, great companies and compassionate citizens,” Nichols said in a release.  “All involved recognize that improving the lives of our neighbors and ensuring our children are on a path to success are sound investments in the future of Haywood County.”

Sara Sheppard Pacifici, of Sheppard Insurance Group, has agreed to serve as pacesetter chair.  She has also served United Way for several years.  pacesetter companies conduct United Way campaigns early to start the fundraising cycle in a positive manner.

Nichols’ campaign team also consists of business leaders, community volunteers and nonprofit professionals.  The group will work to increase corporate, workplace and individual giving.  Money raised through the campaign will support United Way’s work in education, income and health.

Celesa Willett, United Way’s executive director, said Nichols has repeatedly demonstrated a “passion and dedicated commitment to our community that I am confident will translate into positive results for this year’s campaign.”

United Way’s campaign goal will be announced at the Day of Caring Kick Off at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Nancy Weldon Memorial Gym, Lake Junaluska.  Everyone is invited to attend.

For more information, call Celesa Willett at 356-2832.
