CANDLER — Velma Bell Head Putnam, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother went home to the Lord, Thursday, August 2, 2012.
Mrs. Putnam was born April 1, 1928 in Macon County to the late Charlie Head and the late Lassie Guffey Head Shuler. She had resided most of her life in Haywood and Buncombe County and was a devoted homemaker. Mrs. Putnam was a member of Gospel Baptist Church in Woodfin. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring person.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay.
