Voices in the Laurel is accepting new singers on Tuesday January 15, 2013 for all choirs. Singers in 1st and 2nd grades may join Treble Makers without an audition. Singers in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades may audition for Concert Choir, while singers in grades six through twelve may audition for Chamber Choir. All choirs will be featured as Voices in the Laurel sings for the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police in late January, and on the My Jazzy Valentine Concert which will take place February 16.  For more information or an audition appointment, please call (828) 734-8413.

Students wishing to audition should come to the regular rehearsal time for their age group — 1st and 2nd grade at 4 p.m., 3-5th grade at 5 p.m. and 6-12th grades at 6:15 p.m. Be prepared to stay for whole rehearsal so they can 'get the feel' of a rehearsal.

Voices in the Laurel is pleased to announce that it will expand its musical horizons by including changed male voices beginning this semester. Voices in the Laurel Children's Choirs has primarily been choral ensembles for unchanged, treble voices in grades one through twelve. The program will continue for these same ages, but will incorporate music for male singers whose voices have changed. These singers will sing with Chamber Choir, the advanced choral group for grades six through twelve.

In addition to some new repertoire that will includes sopranos, altos, tenors and basses, the male singers will have their own ensemble that will be featured at all concerts. Thus, Chamber Choir will also continue its program for treble only voices.
