Volunteer opportunities for spring

With the weather getting warmer and clocks moving ahead, it's a great time to get out and volunteer.  Those interested in volunteering should call John at 356-2833.

— Taste of Chocolate: help needed organizing on April 19

— Mountain Projects: receptionist needed

— Meals on Wheels: drivers needed to fill routes, secretary needed for Friends

— Circles of Hope: mentors needed, volunteers needed to serve on committee and in new program

— Guardian Ad Litem: advocates are needed in the court system to help abused and neglected children

— Haywood County TDA Visitor's Center — volunteers needed to man centers, greet people

— Special Olympics: coaches and mentors needed

— Haywood County Chamber of Commerce: volunteers needed to answer phones and greet customers

— Pathways Thrift Store: volunteers needed to process items, clerks needed

— Kare: volunteers needed for light reception work in the morning, assistants needed for Personal Safety Program

— Health Haywood: partners needed to keep the county healthy

—The Arc of Haywood County: volunteers needed for facility maintenance and office work

— Autumn Care: volunteers needed to sit with and/or teach crafts to seniors

— Haywood Spay/Neuter: volunteers needed for office work, spay/neuter on-site transport help (loading, unloading, assisting clients, prepping crates) and trap-neuter-return

— American Youth Soccer Organization: volunteers needed to referee, paint lines and man concession stands

— Haywood County Arts Council: Gallery 86 needs volunteers to work 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. shifts and 1 to 5 p.m. shifts

— Sarge's Animal Rescue: transport drivers needed, foster homes for cats and dogs needed, volunteers needed for office work

— Foster Grandparents: help a preschool or elementary-age child, stipend available for those who meet guidelines

— Habitat for Humanity: volunteers needed to help build houses, help needed at Habitat store

— HRMC Hospice: help needed with a new program, Vet to Vet program

— The Community Kitchen: cooks and serves needed, help needed with fundraiser

— REACH of Haywood: Hotline volunteers and thrift store workers needed

— Haywood Regional Medical Center Auxiliary: volunteers needed for the front desk and patient escorts

— The Great Laurels of Junaluska: volunteers needed to assist with various jobs for residents

— Smokey Mountain Health Care and Rehab Center: volunteers needed for various jobs

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program: If you are over 55 years of age, you can receive a limited amount of mileage coverage and supplementary insurance while you are volunteering.
