Walmart recognizes North Canton Elementary teachers

On Wednesday, Sept. 11, North Canton Elementary School had a surprise assembly.

At 10:15, each classroom reported to the gym to see what the secret was. The students and faculty were very excited when they learned that out of all Haywood County Schools, North Canton was selected to receive a teacher appreciation gift from Walmart.

Sandra Calloway and Renee Henline, two Walmart employees, came to the school to present every classroom teacher with a$50 gift card to spend at Walmart.

Not only did the Wal-Mart Corporation give teachers a gift card, but Haywood County’s Walmart also donated gift bags and lunch.

Cindy Ayers, a veteran fifth grade teacher, who was moved to tears.

“This is the kindest thing anyone has ever done to show their appreciation for teachers," she said. "I am so excited and truly appreciative for this. I am going tomorrow to buy new clipboards for my students!”
