CLYDE — Walter Gerald “Chip” Woody, 66, passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at Mission Hospital's St. Joseph Campus.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Marion Jesse and Eula Hanks Woody. He was also preceded in death by five brothers. Chip enjoyed working in his flower garden and listening to gospel music.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Ellen Woody and James Edward Burke, of Canton, and Brenda Lee Woody and Wayne Luther, of Canton; a son, Rick Woody, of Elmer, New Jersey; two sisters, Christine Humphry, of Bridgeton, New Jersey, and Linda Brussica, of Franklinville, New Jersey; three brothers, Lester “Bud” Woody, of Cedarville, New Jersey, Donald Woody, of Bridgeton, New Jersey, and Harold Woody of Franklinville, New Jersey; two grandsons; Dustin James Sellers and Aaron Michael Woody; and a great-granddaughter, Sophia Leann Woody.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. William Terrell officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10 to noon prior to the service.
