Waynesville arrests, Sept. 13

The Following is a listing of arrests made by the Waynesville Police Department from Sept. 4 through Sept. 13.

On Sept. 11, 19-year-old Kayla Ansley Welch and 31-year-old Johnathan Micah Maney, both of Cherokee, were arrested after attempting to return stolen items for cash at Walmart.

Maney pushed down an employee while running away from police.

Both were charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense. Maney was also charged with simple physical assault.

They were jailed under $5,000 and $6,000 secured bonds, respectively.

Christy Brownstead Stacey, 52, of Orchid Lane, Waynesville, faces similar charges after taking a baby monitor off the shelves at Walmart and attempting to return it for cash.
