Waynesville Block Party to be held Saturday night
The downtown Waynesville Block Party will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 on Main Street.
Kids on Main, featuring activities for children at 15 downtown businesses will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Balloons will identify locations to pick up maps.
Main Street, Depot Street and the United Community Bank parking lot will all be closed at 5 p.m. Saturday — barricaded just past the courthouse and at the Main and Church Street intersection. This means no parking in these areas and no through traffic.
Public restrooms will be available at the Montgomery Street Municipal Lot and in the Police Dept. lobby. Portable restrooms will be in the United Community Bank parking lot.
There will be limited bleacher seating where the bands perform so bring a chair and put on their dancing shoes, but leave pets at home because they are not allowed at downtown events.

Activities for kids
The Children’s Area will be near The Strand chalk, corn hole, etc.
Mr. Tom will be twisting balloons near the children’s area, along with face painting by Funshine Faces.
The Waynesville Fire Department will be bringing a fire truck, will be parked near Mast.
Waynesville Police Department will be selling barbecue near Miller St./Main St. intersection. Almost all downtown restaurants will be open.
Waynesville Soda Jerks will be serving their handcrafted, locally produced, artisan sodas near SunTrust Bank.
