The Town of Waynesville's July 4 celebrations kicked off Friday morning with a Kid's on Main Patriotic parade, followed by a cookout with plenty of food, games, craft beers and activities to enjoy.

Guests could indulge in their choice of local craft brews from Frog Level Brewing or Tipping Point Brewing. The hamburgers, hot-dogs and barbecue platters provided by Blue Ridge BBQ were the perfect accompaniment to a sunny July 4 celebration, so much so that it wasn't long before food began to run out.

Up until 4 p.m., Main Street was a sea of red, white and blue, as families, children and many furry friends trotted along the sidewalks of downtown, enjoying the sights and live music.

Flocks of people gathered around the courthouse lawn to hear the Haywood Community Band perform its a live Fourth of July concert. The concert included patriotic song such as "God Bless America," and "You're a Grand Old Flag."
