Waynesville consignment shop reaches a landmark

Consignment shops seem to be on a roll these days, but for one to reach its 10th anniversary is worth noting. The Pocket Saver consignment and resale shop, 1507 S. Main St., in Waynesville celebrated its 10th anniversary in business Aug. 3 and 4.

The shop’s owner, Debby Byers, has been in the consignment business since 1979, starting out in California.  He husband, Mike, is from Haywood County, so they decided to move here in 2002, and that’s when Byers started The Pocket Saver.  As far as she knows, it was the first consignment shop in Waynesville.

There are many consignment shops now in Haywood County, but Byers feels that “quality” of merchandise sets her shop apart from others.  She carries name brands and only takes “gently used” items — “and they must be current styles.”
