1993 saw the birth of craft beer in Waynesville North Carolina. Smoky Mountain Brewery opened in Waynesville one year prior to Highlands Brewery opening in Asheville. The small craft brewery remained open for just four years.
Since then, Western North Carolina has exploded with thriving craft breweries. The Waynesville Craft Beer Faire celebrates the rapid growth of beer culture in Waynesville and all of WNC.
The vision of local brewer/owner Kevin Sandefur of BearWaters Brewing Company to bring a dynamic beer festival to Waynesville led to a grant by the Haywood County Tourist Development Authority to launch what is now a much-anticipated yearly event.
In the inaugural year in 2013, the American Legion Post 47 of Waynesville “stepped to the plate” offering to host the brewer event on its ball field, taking advantage of the Smoky Mountains as a backdrop and the proximity to all the amenities Downtown Waynesville has to offer. The first year was a great success with more than 30 craft brewers, home-brewers and a near sell-out crowd.
The faire features great local music, fine foods, homebrew and educational displays. Informative classes will be presented by area craft and home brew experts.
The Waynesville Craft Beer Faire is a 21 AND OVER ONLY EVENT. State approved ID’s ARE REQUIRED FOR ENTRY. Absolutely no one under 21 will be allowed on the American Legion property. Event will be held rain or shine.
VIP tickets are $45.00; general admission tickets are $35. For information, visit http://waynesvillebeer.com.
