Waynesville father-son duo busted
A father-son duo known for peddling drugs in Haywood County was arrested late last week.
Both Kenneth Dewayne Moody Sr., 53, and his son Kenneth Dewayne Moody Jr., 29, both of Waynesville, have long been known to local law enforcement. The two men were arrested following an indictment which was handed down by a grand jury two weeks ago for a crime committed back in 2015 when they attempted to sell prescription opioids to a local woman.
Moody Sr. was charged with one count of selling a schedule II controlled substance, one count of possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to sell or distribute, one count of maintaining in a vehicle or dwelling a controlled substance and one count of conspiracy. He has had prior charges on his record which include other drug-related charges, indecent exposure, various assaults, breaking and entering and second degree kidnapping.
Moody Jr. was charged with two counts of selling a schedule II controlled substance, three counts of possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to sell or distribute, three counts of maintaining in a vehicle or dwelling a controlled substance, multiple counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of conspiracy. His priors include drug-related charges, various assaults, possession of a firearm by a felon, breaking and entering and larceny.
The elder Moody was arrested on Feb. 8 and was released the same day on $30,000 bond, and the younger Moody — following his father’s lead — was arrested Feb. 10 and released on $82,500 bond the same day.
Both men are scheduled to appear in court on March 6.
