The Public Services Department recently named the employees of the month for April and May.

Lonnie Higgins, cemetery crew leader, was the April employee of the month. His nomination was directly linked to his efforts surrounding the funeral of retired Marine Commandant Gen. Mundy. Military liaisons and town of Waynesville officials commented on the outstanding job he did in preparing for the service and for working on the weekend to see to their needs.

In a memo from Public Services Director David Foster, he thanked Higgins for “being the face of the town for such a monumental event.”

For May, three individuals shared the honor of employee of the month. Dwayne Yarborough, crew leader, and utility maintenance workers James Brown and David Snyder were recognized for their hard work and diligence in completing the Riverbend project. This project allowed for infrastructure improvements that will assist in reducing the sanitary sewer overflow instances.

The honorees were commended for their customer service and maintaining normalcy for businesses and residents during the project.

The town and Public Services Department recognizes the actions of these individuals and congratulates and thanks each of them for their dedication and commitment to the citizens and visitors to Waynesville.
