Basketball camp begins July 14

The Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department will offer a basketball camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 14-17 at the Waynesville Recreation Center for boys and girls in third through ninth grades.

The instructor will be Kevin Cantwell, the former assistant head coach at Georgia Tech and head coach at Appalachian State.

The goal of the camp will be a positive and challenging learning experience. The focus will be on teaching the fundamentals of dribbling, passing and shooting. There will be daily contests in free throws, layups and gotcha. There will also be 3 vs. 3 half court games and 5 vs. 5 full court games.

Each camper needs to bring a lunch. The cost for the camp is $150 per camper.
