Waynesville student will be on WCU's homecoming court

Photo by: Donated photo The student body at WCU has voted Brandon Truitt from Waynesville onto this year's homecoming court.

Brandon Todd Truitt, a 2012 graduate of Tuscola High School and a sophomore at Western Carolina University majoring in communication, has been voted onto this year's homecoming court. Truitt, sponsored by WCU's orientation programs, is the son of Tom Truitt and Dayna Gerlach.

Truitt is one of 10 WCU students to be voted onto the homecoming court. Final voting for homecoming king and queen was held Oct. 16, and the court will be presented and the king and queen crowned during halftime activities at WCU’s home football game against Elon Saturday, Oct. 26. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Members of the court will participate in the Homecoming parade, which begins in downtown Sylva at 6:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, and they also will take part in the Spirit Night Pep Rally that will be held at WCU’s Central Plaza at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.
